Section I: Problem Definition
A) Description of Research Process: Each one of the team members will discuss an important aspect of HOW DOES THE CURRENT US ECONOMY AFFECTS US? The project has been divided among the 5 members of our team. We are each doing research in our corresponding areas: education, housing, healthcare, immigration and unemployment. Each will prepare a written report, we will revise it, and do a presentation in class.
1) Pro Quest (4 article)
2) Newspaper articles (10 articles)
3) Online archives (4 articles)
4) Scholastic Journals (3article)
B) Statement of Problem:
“The current US Economy is on a rapid decline”
1) Present State Desired State (PSDS) –
The current US economy is on a rapid decline.
{There are no jobs, unemployment is on a rise. People are not able to afford healthcare, housing or education. We need better immigration reforms so that immigrants are able to work legally and contribute to the US.}
2) Desired State –
The economy on the whole is on the rise.
{There are jobs created in the US for all citizens that are able to work. Education is affordable, so is healthcare and housing. There are better established immigration laws and immigrant employment is better regulated.}
3) Dunker Diagram (DD) - Reasons why it would be okay NOT to fix today’s Economy:
1) Having financial security, meaning millions of dollars
2) People relocating to other countries.
3) Death
4) Lack of concern for the economy
4) Priority Analysis Chart (PA) –
Priority Analysis (PA)
Urgency: What is the urgency for the economy to stabilize?
10 There are thousands of unemployed US citizens, with minimal income that can’t afford
healthcare.
10 There is a need of suitable housing for citizens that are working and can’t afford a home.
8 Create better opportunities for our younger generation.
Importance: How strongly will this problem affect me or others if left unsolved?
10 Number of people on welfare will increase, affecting millions of tax payers.
5 It’s upsetting that the US government doesn’t shelter it’s homeless.
10 US citizens who are not able to afford healthcare will be in mortal peril.
9 Without immigration reform laws, companies will continue to hire illegal immigrants and
pay them minimum wage, without benefits.

Your questions?

How can we all help stabilize our economy?
|
Our Government (Congress) to Tax their wages and pay for their own health care
|
To show the American people that they(Congress) are willing to do their part
|
Money and benefits just like the common wealth
|
B) Discussion of causes –
1) Companies are moving overseas where overhead is cheaper.
2) Companies are hiring illegal immigrants and paying them less, without providing benefits.
3) America not being creative enough, (not producing enough engineers, mathematicians, chemical engineers in our own school systems).
4) American has stopped making products, because it is cheaper to have them made in other counties.
5) Unnecessary out sourcing of products.
6) Free benefits to all illegal immigrants in our country.
7) Stimulus package: taking millions of dollars away from hard working taxpayers.
8) Dictatorship in Government policies
Section III: Possible Solutions
A) Techniques used:
Researched –The Firm used Periodicals, internet, news papers, and journals.
Brainstorming – We discussed all of our point of views to reflect on why the Current Us Economy is on a Rapid Decline, and what changes need to occur to repair the situation at hand.
B) Solutions Brainstormed:
Higher taxes for companies that hire overseas
Severe sanctions for companies hiring illegal immigrants
Raise import taxation on every American operated company that moves out of the country.
Illegal immigrant taxation on their wages earned in America
Holding insurance companies liable to their policy and forcing them to honor them no matter the cost. (Can’t cancel a person because it cost too much)
Cut back or stop all American aid unless deemed a natural disaster to other counties.
